The DILAB & Major in Engineering-Design and Innovation

Since 2013 I have been the director of this intrapreneurial initiative from the school of engineering. This was started from scratch. Because of the new curriculum that PUC’s school of Engineering was executing, there was a major in engineering and design that needed that courses had to be created and implemented. I have done research on the implementation of the courses in order to iterate and improve the deployment of the major. Apart from doing this I have been creating an innovation and entrepreneurship network and ecosystem using my own contacts so that our students can interact with real world challenges (includes American companies, International engineering schools and local organizations). Making the Engineering Design Initiative acceptable in the school of engineering has been a major work in addressing cultural acceptance to change. Lastly, it is important to add that we have created a common design process and theoretical position that helps align all of the project-based-initiatives in the school that are design-related.
